Project Description

Zanbour Water Treatment Plant is designed for a nominal production capacity of 1,000 m³/h of treated water, based on 22 hours of effective daily operation. Raw water is abstracted at the intake structure, where it first passes through mechanical screening before entering the raw water basin. The flow is then conveyed to the chemical treatment stage, where coagulation with alum and pre-chlorination are applied. The conditioned water is introduced into the clariflocculator units to achieve floc formation, clarification, and sludge separation. The clarified effluent is subsequently directed to the rapid gravity (sand) filtration units for final turbidity and solids reduction. The filtered water is collected in the ground storage reservoirs, from which high-lift pumping units deliver the final product to El Khales Booster Station and onward to the Dojmah and Jizani networks.

Scope of Work

The project includes the detailed design review of a 1,000 m³/hr Water Treatment Plant (WTP), One booster station, and the associated transmission and distribution pipelines, supplied from Tigris River via a new intake. The review covers:

  • Intake Structure : Verify hydraulic and structural design for drawing water from Tigris River.
  • Water Treatment Plant (1,000 m³/hr) :Review treatment processes, hydraulic profile, mechanical/electrical systems, chemical dosing, and storage tanks.
  • Booster Station (El Khales) :Check pump selection, hydraulic head, surge protection, layouts, and all MEP systems.
  • Transmission & Distribution Pipelines:Review HDPE PN10 pipelines delivering flows between 42-56 L/s with diameters 250–560 mm.Verify pipeline lengths, hydraulic calculations, connections, and valve arrangements.
  • Electrical, Control & SCADA :Check power supply, automation, instrumentation, & interconnection between facilities.
  • Review buildings, foundations, supports, and site layouts, ensure all designs, drawings, and BOQs meet project specifications.
