Project Description

The Tomas and Afia Irrigation Infrastructure Project, located in the Toshka Area, involves the development of irrigation infrastructure comprising the construction of a 57 km main irrigation canal and a 9.6 km secondary canal, together with the associated hydraulic structures and facilities. The main canal consists of several sections with varying bed widths from 4 m to 6 m and water depths from 2.00 m to 3.00 m. The secondary canal has a bed width of 3 m, with water depths ranging from 1.29m to 1.58m. The project also includes a range of hydraulic structures, including culverts, irrigation intakes, bridges, pumping stations, regulators, and weirs, forming an integrated irrigation system for efficient water conveyance and distribution.

Scope of Work

*Design Review – Review of detailed designs, shop drawings, calculations, method statements, and technical submittals.

*Construction Supervision – Supervision of the 57 km main canal and 9.6 km secondary canal, including excavation, earthworks, grading, canal formation, and finishing works.

*Hydraulic Structures – Supervision of 3 culverts, 18 intakes, 1 bridge, 2 pumping stations ( 3 million m3/day , Force main L= 180 , dia. 1800mm and 2 million m3/day, Force main L = 170 , dia. 1600mm ), 1 regulator, 1 secondary-canal intake, and 9 weirs.

*Quality Control – Inspection and approval of materials, workmanship, testing, and compliance with project specifications.

*Progress Monitoring – Monitoring the Contractor’s progress, construction program, schedules, and site activities.

*Contract Administration – Measurement and verification of works, review of payment applications, variations, claims, and contractual matters.

*Technical Coordination – Coordination among the Owner, Contractor, Consultant, and relevant authorities, including resolution of technical issues.

*Testing & Commissioning – Supervision of testing, commissioning, completion, snagging, handover, and as-built documentation.
